Duties and responsibilities:

The Assistant Chief works under the general supervision of the district’s Chief and is directly responsible for direction, management and supervision of the department’s administrative, prevention, education, operations personnel. The Assistant Fire Chief responds to all fire alarms and other emergencies and directs all physical manual tasks as the situation may require, assumes command and control until relieved by an officer of higher rank.  The Assistant Chief advises and consults with the Fire Chief on matters relating to administration, prevention, operations, training and public education activities of the department.
