Fort Myers Beach Fire Control District

The Fort Myers Beach Youth Explores program is especially designed for young men and women from 15 to 21 years of age who are interested in a career in the Fire Service.

Fire Service Explorer Posts such as Post # 1100 are part of the Learning for Life organization, which provide young adults with extensive hands-on experience in the field. The program offers youth, an opportunity test drive their future career, today. By offering many fun-filled learning experiences and activities, the program promotes the growth, confidence and development of the young adults

After meeting the initial requirements for entry into the program, participants must successfully complete a nine week training academy. During the academy participants will learn: fire safety, fire suppression, proper use of fire fighting tools, team building, and other related subjects.

After successful completion of the academy, participants will be able to ride along on an engine, truck or ambulance and respond to fire and medical emergencies. By using their academy training, Explores will be able to assist District personnel at emergency incidents.
